Be Philanthropy welcomed +1,500 Participants from across the Philanthropic Sector
In April 2026, Be Philanthropy brought together more than 1,500 participants from six continents in Brussels. Organised by the King Baudouin Foundation, representing Myriad Europe, as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations, the conference welcomed philanthropists, foundations, non-profit leaders, academics, and social innovators to explore how philanthropy can help address today’s societal and global challenges.
A number of distinguished guests helped shape the discussions throughout the day. Participants were honoured by an opening address from Her Majesty Queen Mathilde of the Belgians, while Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Dr. Denis Mukwege shared powerful reflections on philanthropy’s role in advancing human dignity and social justice. Naina Batra, CEO of AVPN, brought an Asia-Pacific perspective to the programme, highlighting opportunities for philanthropy and social investment to drive positive change at scale.
The event also highlighted the importance of international collaboration. Alongside participants from around the world, colleagues from Myriad Alliance Members joined the conference, strengthening connections across the Alliance and the wider philanthropic sector.
The conference featured a rich programme of keynote sessions, panel discussions, and interactive exchanges on topics including the future of philanthropy, family giving, impact, and cross-sector collaboration. Together, speakers and participants explored how philanthropy can respond to emerging challenges while fostering greater cooperation across sectors and borders.
These conversations echoed findings from the King Baudouin Foundation’s Philanthropy Barometer, which shows strong public recognition of philanthropy’s value in society. According to the research, 81% of Belgians consider philanthropy important to society, while nearly eight in ten believe it contributes to a better world.
The conference programme, speaker information and official aftermovie are available on the Be Philanthropy website. They capture the energy of the event and showcase the diverse range of speakers, sessions and discussions that made Be Philanthropy a landmark gathering for the philanthropic sector.
The King Baudouin Foundation would like to thank all speakers, partners and participants who contributed to the success of Be Philanthropy. We look forward to continuing the conversations started in Brussels and strengthening international cooperation in support of philanthropy worldwide.
